Thanks Ray for letting know why men over 50 should have their testosterone levels tested. I enjoyed reading this post. And the video clip is very informative.

I am old enough that I should be concerned about my testosterone levels but not really curious enough to bother. I suppose if I start running into issues my attitude will change. However, no reason not to know about and take steps to keep levels up through proper diet.

I did not know diet affected testosterone levels. Ignorant I know, but I really have never had cause to look into the subject until the last couple of years.

Interesting. I read an article not long ago that suggested women are at their sexual peak between 40 and 50. This would explain cougars I guess, older women who prefer younger men because they are more sexually virile. We are an odd species, aren’t we? Maybe we were meant to live in Matriarchal societies, rather than Patriarchal with the suggestion of equality between the sexes.

A testosterone test should be mandatory for everybody above 50. I have never done one but I definitely will now.

Great article and a reminder I have to add testosterone levels to my annual physical. Once a year I get a complete physical, including blood tests. However, testosterone levels were not among the tests. I will correct that oversight.

I am over 60 and have never had my testosterone tested. I don’t really need to to know the level has declined. I will have myself tested, but I am going to follow the advice here immediately and get a jump start on what I know will be the test result and subsequent need for treatment. Thanks for the wake up call.

I had recently read about Andrораuѕе and am well past the age when I should be dealing with it. I probably am but not enough to notice yet. I guess it is another thing I have to add to my list of things I need to be tested for when I go for my next checkup.

I don’t know how you dealt with Andropause, but I bought a Corvette! 🙂

Without a level to decide if you are deficient, how can anyone really say that you are? I guess I am not following that part of it.

That is why I suggest that once you turn 50 you should get tested. The only way to know is by testing. The symptoms of Low “T” are similar to other hormone deficiencies such as Hypothyroidism so you can’t be sure without a test. I would also suggest getting a Thyroid test then too.

Testosterone is one of those hormones that begins to decline as we age. So at some point in your life you will drop below normal. It’s just a normal part of aging. Beginning Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) will greatly improve your quality of life once you have gone below the normal range.

This was a great article to read. I am one of those people who never goes to a doctor. Probably choose not to for fear of what I’ll be told. There’s comfort living in blissful ignorance for as long as possible. But now I am retired and have to get a medical to be able to move somewhere more affordable and safer than the USA. For sure I’m going to include a testosterone test. I’ve always considered myself too old to care about my testosterone, but then I thought is only have one reason for being. Now I know better I’ll act accordingly.

Judging by the comments I’m normal. I have never had my testosterone levels checked at all and I am over 60. I also only thought testosterone only had one function. Now that I know it is another of the bodies multi-tasking components I am going to get it checked during my next annual physical.

A great article. My wife is 22 years younger than I am, beautiful and I find I am not as able as I once was. Aging was of course the assumed culprit. I am well over 50 and never had my testosterone levels checked, but will now for sure. Thank you for the insight.

Interesting stuff. I have never had my tеѕtоѕtеrоnе level checked. At my age, 61, I guess I should.
