Maintaining a healthy, balanced diet is certainly the best way to maintain your health. But supplementing this diet can also be a wise decision. The healthiest, most effective way to get the vegetable nutrients we need on a daily basis is, naturally, to consume the fruits and vegetables that can provide them. But if we feel a need to superload certain vitamins and nutrients, there is certainly no harm, and potentially a world of benefit, in consuming vegetable juices. And some can be better than others.
Campbell’s markets a number of vegetable juices which can provide the body with a healthy dose of supplemental ingredients, and V8 Healthy Greens is one of the most beneficial, and palatable, of the vegetable drink products on the market. V8 Healthy Greens is a blend of 75% juice and 25% pure water containing such veggies as yellow carrots, spinach, cucumbers, kale, romaine, and green bell peppers along with fruit juices such as apple, pineapple, and watermelon. One serving (8 ounces) of the juice will provide a full serving of vegetables (½ cup). The juice is a good source of the antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E. One serving contains about 60 calories.
The most effective way to supplement your diet is with a 100% juice drink, but the 75/25 percent ration of V8 Healthy Greens is close. It contains no added sugar, flavor, or colors, with the addition of the fruits to the blend making it more pleasant tasting. And, common sense will tell you, that if you enjoy the flavor, you are far more likely to stick with a juice regimen. Be aware, however, that all V8 juices contain added sodium, in the form of salt, to improve flavor and preserve the product. This could lead to an increased risk of high blood pressure and water retention.
While V8 Healthy Greens is an excellent choice when you are determined to superload on vegetable nutrients, it cannot be considered a substitute for whole fruits and vegetables in your diet. Juicing removes most of the fiber contained in the natural items, and this fiber is important to many processes in the body. It provides a feeling a fullness, thus preventing us from overeating and, consequently, gaining weight. It helps regulate blood sugar, prevents constipation, and help to prevent heart disease. In addition, juices do not contain certain other super vegetables, such as broccoli and sweet potatoes.
This being said, using healthy vegetable juices such as V8 Healthy Greens is an excellent way to guarantee our intake of a variety of vitamins and nutrients vital to our continued good health. We simply should not lull ourselves into the belief that these supplements alone are sufficient to provide our daily requirements. Supplementing our diet with such healthy vegetable juices is, indeed, an excellent way to regulate our health and maintain, or restore, vitality. And V8 Healthy Greens, with its low cost, excellent palatability, and lack of artificial ingredients, is one of the better choices on the market.
